Mrs. Diyar A. Bleej involved in the first round of split side Ph.D. project in Zakho University which is started in October 2011. The Ph.D. project started with a well prepared proposal with internal supervisor Dr. Aasim A. Azooz. Later, she took several courses of different beneficial subjects related to her area of study. The second part of the project was achieved with the Middle East technical university in Ankara, Turkey. She started her work in plasma laboratory in the physics department at the faculty of arts and sciences with the external supervisor Dr. Serhat M. Cakir. The work in Turkey included of getting data from new device (capacitively coupled plasma (CCP)) using new plasma diagnostic (optical emission spectrometer (OES)). CCP system is good and multipurpose system which can be used in many research and industrial applications like surface modification, etching, cleaning, deposition and others. The work is concerned with study of CCP radio frequency discharge at 40.68 MHz. This due to the small amount of published experimental data at this frequency compared to corresponding ones at 13.56 MHz. Thus, the main purpose of her work is to provide and analyze new experimental data related to electron temperature and density in the pressure range on the two sides of the Paschen curve over the widest possible range of RF power. Such results will provide firsthand information for the use of 40.68 RF discharge in a wide range of applications such as plasma surface treatment, plasma etching, plasma coating and plasma cleaning. She stayed in Turkey for a year and now she completed her Ph.D. thesis. The defense of her thesis was in 23/July/2015.
